The situation

What has happened

A road tanker carrying 20 tonnes of 32 percent hydrochloric acid arrives at loading bay 1 at 8:30 am for tank T-105. The last receipt into T-105 reached 92 percent and activated the high level alarm, and the investigation is open, so receipts are restricted to supervised transfers with a manual dip before and after and a second person checking the ullage calculation. The tank data sheet gives the tank capacity, the safe fill level and the receipt margin. The automatic gauge reads 39 percent, but the weekly manual verification is two days overdue. The driver is new to the site. Aisha Rahman wants the whole receipt recorded in the transfer register with the reconciliation.

Your brief. Receive the tanker safely under the bulk fluid transfer procedure and the current restriction: verify the delivery, calculate and check the ullage with a manual dip, confirm overfill protection, complete the line-up and driver briefing, run the transfer while monitoring, drain back, disconnect, gauge and reconcile, and record the receipt.

What to look for

Evidence guide

The student must recognise the restriction and the overdue gauge verification and act on both, must show a correct ullage calculation checked by a second person, must confirm overfill protection before starting and must remain at the transfer point. Look for the drain-back step before disconnection and a reconciliation that is recorded honestly, including any variance.

The student's evidence summary lists every record they created or changed in the systems named above, their notes and the tasks they ticked. Verify it against the deliverables and your own assessment tool.
